Tensions continued to remain high at Elk Grove High School on Thursday in the wake of a brawl between black and white students.

Police and administrators were very much in evidence on the campus Thursday to help keep the peace. Despite their efforts, at least one scuffle took place. A female student was attacked by several other teens, who claimed she hurled a water bottle during Wednesday's melee. The girl was not seriously injured."

Elk Grove High School appeared calm Thursday with students milling about, chatting with friends or finishing up their meals - a day after a lunchtime fight broke out between 100 African American and white students.
Police were called, but no one was injured or arrested in the fight, which was ignited after a campus supervisor turned off a boombox that a group of African American students was playing, school officials said."

A fight between African American and white students disrupted lunch Wednesday at Elk Grove High School, bringing about 20 police officers to the campus to help calm the situation, district officials said.
As many as 100 students were involved, said Jim Elliott, spokesman for the Elk Grove Unified School District. He said school officials are unsure what started the fight."
